Miami Herald: 2 galas on same night raise funds for children

The event was created by family members of L.A. resident Wendy Landes, 56, who sufferers from liposarcoma, a rare and currently incurable cancer. Co-chairs for the Miami Walk (there are also events in NY and LA) are Michael and Stephanie Rosen, Wendy’s brother and sister-in-law and Wendy’s daughter, Jackie Landes, a junior at University of Miami. Several UM sorority and fraternity members will participate. In addition, celebs including Sugar Ray Leonard, Maria Shriver and Katie Couric have spoken out in support of the organization.
